Lifecycle & Retention Marketing Lead

Fully Remote | Contract Role | Monday–Friday

MEDLIFE is a nonprofit organization that partners with communities in Latin America and Africa to improve access to medicine, education, and community development. For more than 20 years, we have worked with students from the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, and other countries through service-learning programs that help broaden perspectives and empower young people to become advocates for social justice.

The Opportunity:

This is a lifecycle, retention, and CRM growth role — not a traditional brand or social media position.
You'll own the participant journey after the first conversion, developing strategies that turn first-time participants into repeat travelers, chapter leaders, engaged alumni, advocates, mentors, and long-term supporters.
You'll combine marketing strategy, CRM automation, customer insights, experimentation, and data to identify opportunities to increase retention, reactivation, repeat participation, and lifetime value.
You'll also have the opportunity to build the lifecycle marketing engine as MEDLIFE continues to scale.

What You'll Do:

Own and continuously improve the MEDLIFE lifecycle strategy, from first participation through chapter involvement, travel, leadership, graduation, alumni engagement, and advocacy.
Build segmented, automated, and human-assisted nurture journeys using HubSpot or a similar CRM platform.
Develop retention and reactivation campaigns based on participant behavior, lifecycle stage, program history, and engagement.
Create strategies to increase repeat participation around seasonality, graduation cycles, and previous program participation.
Partner with RevOps and Data to identify behaviors, segments, and journeys that drive greater Customer Lifetime Value (LTV).
Build reactivation programs for dormant leads, inactive participants, former travelers, and alumni.
Develop a high school-to-college continuity strategy that connects participants with MEDLIFE chapters.
Create multichannel lifecycle campaigns across email, SMS/WhatsApp, HubSpot workflows, myMEDLIFE, and social retargeting.
Partner with Sales and Customer Success to create seamless handoffs between automated nurture and personalized outreach.
Collaborate with chapter, alumni, and field teams to incorporate relevant and credible participant stories and proof points into campaigns.
Establish a test-and-learn culture by analyzing cohorts, conversion, retention, reactivation, repeat participation, timing, LTV, and revenue influenced.
Continuously test messaging, segmentation, offers, channels, and journeys to improve performance.

What We're Looking For:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Data/Analytics, or a related field.
5+ years of direct experience in lifecycle marketing, retention marketing, CRM, customer marketing, or LTV/growth marketing.
7–10+ years is preferred for a senior-level profile.
Experience marketing to U.S. and/or Canadian consumers.
Advanced or professional working proficiency in English.
Proven experience owning retention, reactivation, repeat participation/purchase, lifecycle automation, or LTV outcomes.
Hands-on experience building segmented, multi-stage lifecycle or CRM journeys in HubSpot or an equivalent platform.
Working knowledge of at least one additional CRM/lifecycle platform such as Braze, Klaviyo, Iterable, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo, or Customer.io.
Strong skills in segmentation, experimentation, cohort analysis, funnel measurement, and performance reporting.
Ability to translate data and RevOps insights into targeted, automated customer journeys.
Excellent copy judgment and the ability to write natural, persuasive customer-facing communications for North American audiences.
Comfortable both building the system and operating it in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
